Manifesto Watch -Promoting Democratic Accountability

The 2024 Gen Z-led protests marked a defining moment in Kenya’s democratic journey. Young people across the country stood up against bad governance, lack of accountability, and policies that continue to burden ordinary citizens.

At Manifesto Watch, we are at the forefront of promoting good governance, issue-based leadership, and people-centered politics. We believe the following demands remain urgent and must be addressed to prevent a repeat of the same crisis in 2028, 2029 and beyond.

Key Gen Z Demands

Immediate Rejection of the Finance Bill 2024: Total rejection of the proposed tax hikes.
Resignation of President William Ruto: A call for the president to step down due to mismanagement.
Replacement of the Inspector General of Police: Firing of the IG due to police brutality against protesters.
Prosecution of Officers: Immediate action against police officers responsible for killing and injuring protesters.
Stop Abductions: Cessation of kidnappings and illegal detentions of activists.
Dissolve “Unconstitutional” Offices: Removal of positions such as Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS) and public funding for the First Lady and Second Lady’s offices.
Cut Government Spending: Reduction of Parliament’s budget, including capping MPs’ salaries at Ksh 200,000 and removing excessive allowances.
Reconstitute IEBC: Fast-tracking the reconstruction of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission within 30 days.
Employment & Service Delivery: Immediate employment of Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers and intern doctors, and restoration of the school feeding program.
Audit National Debt: Full disclosure and auditing of the national debt to prevent corruption and misuse of public funds.

These demands reflect the voice of a generation that refuses to be ignored. Manifesto Watch exists to ensure leaders and aspiring leaders clearly state their positions on such issues and are held accountable to their promises.
